High throughput purification of monoclonal recombinant antibodies using a Protein-A coated membrane plate system

Co-Authored New Biotechnology Journal Article Available Now

Purilogics’ Jinxiang Zhou recently co-authored an article alongside Camila Leal-Lopes, Sara D’Angelo, Andre A.R. Teixeira, Andrew R.M Bradbury, Fortunato Ferrara, and M. Frank Erasmus – the Head of Bioinformatics at Specifica, Inc. We are excited to announce that this article has been published in the New Biotechnology Journal: High throughput purification of monoclonal recombinant antibodies using a Protein-A coated membrane plate system.

Article Summary

The need to reduce “time-to-market” for new antibody-based therapies has increased the pressure to develop systems to purify large numbers of recombinant mAbs in a time- and cost-efficient way. Antibody purification using membrane plates has been shown to be a feasible approach to increase throughput, without automation or extensive hands-on time.

In this study, we describe for the first time the use of the Purexa™ AHT membrane plate for the preparative purification of 110 recombinant mAbs, with the potential to purify hundreds of recombinant mAbs per week of sufficient quality and quantity that are suitable for functional screening assays. This process has proven to be reliable, robust, and affordable, making this high throughput mAb purification platform a versatile addition to small to large discovery facilities.
